Searching in Israel for Hillman Schacherl #hungary

Hello to everyone,

While searching the Internet I came across a reference to an Israeli artist
named Jane (Yana) Hillman Schacherl who was born in Vienna in 1913. This is
the same year and place of birth of my great aunt Szeren Schacherl's
daughter.

Can anyone suggest how I might find out if this daughter is still alive and
if so how she might be located? The only white pages for Israel seem to be
available only in Hebrew which I can't read. Jane(Yana) won the Jerusalem
Prize in 1945. Would anyone know if that necessarily means she lived in
Jerusalem?

Would appreciate any help that anyone may be able to provide with this.

i'd like to point out steve morse's terrific web site, which includes a link to the bezeq (israel telephone company) directory, providing english-hebrew transliteration. his front-end makes it relatively easy to search the israeli phone directory.

but i suspect that you'll have problems finding that surname, because it is less common, and so the transliteration into hebrew letters may vary widely, or they may have changed it to something more hebrew-sounding.

ps. according to <http://www.jerusalembookfair.com/the_jerusalem_prize.html>, previous winners of the jerusalem prize included arthur miller, graham greene, and eugene ionesco, and i doubt they lived in jerusalem. unfortunately the oldest one mentioned is 1963.
