An Excerpt from A Book #hungary
Amit N
Hello,
I've been doing some renewed search on known family members, and found out my grandmother's uncle appears on a book named: A MagyarorszÃ¥gi Symbolikus NagypÃ¥holy fÅ?hatósÃ¥ga alatt dolgozó szabadkÅ?mŹves pÃ¥holyok tagjainak nÊvsora : Hivatalos kiadÃ¥s / kiadja a magyar kirÃ¥lyi belßgyminiszter. - Budapest : Magyar KirÃ¥lyi Ãllami Nyomda, 1920. - Being in Israel I find it very hard to believe I will ever come across a copy of that one. Is anyone on this group able to put a hand on this book? I would appreciate the help. I am interested in an excerpt regarding Dr. Istvan SPITZER >from Zombor/Sombor, which is supposed to appear on page 215/263, not sure which or whether both. I would appreciate any help. Best regards, Amit Naor Israel

Dear Amit,
A check of WorldCat using the words magyarorszagi symbolikus in the title search indicates this was an annual periodical or yearbook for Hungarian Freemasons. Â That suggests your great-great-uncle was a Freemason and that the book may have some information on him. Â The bibliographical record for this periodical is extremely confusing and individual year volumes are rarely cataloged so I can't tell if it's held by a library in WorldCat. Â I suggest contacting the Hungarian National Library, which should have a full run of this periodical. Good luck in your research. Yours, Jenny Schwartzberg The Newberry Library Chicago, IL USA

Probably unlikely that you'll find this book anywhere in Israel unless someone

has a personal copy but you may be able to find it on-line. Check the National Szechenyi Library catalogue at http://nektar2.oszk.hu/librivision_eng.html The Szechenyi reportedly has a copy of all materials printed in Hungary. See http://www.theeuropeanlibrary.org/tel4/contributor/P01210 for description of collection and more information. Vivian Kahn, Oakland, California JewishGen Hungarian SIG Coordinator
