Finding obit lookup sources #general

My advice is to get signed up to Obituary Times, a daily email newsletter
that covers just about every state and province and just about all of the
newspapers obituary notices.
Visit the ODT web site at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~obituary>

Where does one find people to do a obituary lookup when all that is
known is the name, place and date of death, but not the specific
newspaper?

I've had great luck with the Genealogy Helplist at
http://www.posom.com/hl/ and also with the volunteers at the USGenWeb
sites accessible at http://www.usgenweb.org

Also, if it is recent, within the last two or three years, try the index
of obituaries at http://www.rootsweb.com/~obituaries/ or look for a web
site of newspapers in the area. I have gotten obits >from Arizona
through their web site, which put an index on-line for a search.

Good luck
