My husband's father Meyer GORELIK travelled alone at age 17 >from Beylarus to
New York. He was taken in by a family with 13 children. His younger brothers

Ricki L. Zunk <> asked:

Was it common for 16 and 17 year olds to travel to America alone in the
early 1900s?
My father traveled alone >from Poland to Hamburg to Liverpool to Boston at
the age of 16, arriving in the year 1913. His sister, who had preceded
him to the US met him when he arrived.
