A Victory Medal #general

Steven Diamond <dsteven_@...>

Hi Genners,

A Great Uncle of mine served in the U.S. Navy >from 1912 until his tragic
death in 1921. I recently accessed portions of his file >from the National
Military Records Center in St. Louis, MO. The file says he received a
Victory Medal. I have no idea what such a medal is or why it would be
given. If any of you out there have any knowledge regarding what the
Victory Medal was given for, please contact me privatly at
dsteven_@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance.

Dear Steven,

The Victory Medal was presented to all men in the military at the end of a
conflict, such as WW1 and WW2. All persons in the military between certain
designated periods were entitled to receive these awards. Take it and hold
it with the records you received. My uncles records for that period were
burned in the fire they had.

Good luck.
