Can someone suggest a Jewish newspaper which might have carried anAlmost certainly the Jewish Chronicle (if the family sent in a notice at all). The J.C. was founded in 1841, and throughout most of its history has been the "national" Anglo-Jewish weekly, so people >from other cities besides London used to send their announcements there. We used to refer affectionately to the b/m/d page as the "Hatches, Matches and Dispatches." However the actual column is (or was) called "Social and Personal" -- I remember that we used to joke that it was high time Social got engaged to Personal...... If you can actually pinpoint the month as well as the year, it should be easy to find someone who could look it up for you in some large university library that has the JC on microfiche. Or maybe write to the JC directly (sorry I don't know their e-mail address but I'm sure you can find them on the web). Judith Romney Wegner
