On my Grandfathers Declaration Of Intention...it states he arrived on
the vessel-Bulgarra....May 15, 1903....Then on The Petition of
Naturalization, it states he arrived on the vessel Bulgaria.. July 18,
1903.....This would be easily clarified and I could learn a lot more
from the passenger list.... if I could find these vessels......they dont
seem to exist.......I have tried many sites of Immigrant ships....

Dear Judith,
According to www.cimorelli.com, which indexes ships traveling >from Europe
to the U.S., there indeed was a ship SS Bulgaria, with four trips to New
York in 1903: arriving Feb. 14, April 10, June 27, and July 20.

from your letter, it sounds like you've only searched for the passenger
list online. As tempting as it may be to limit yourself to armchair
research, you'll be missing a lot of opportunity if you do that.

You'll need to either send a request to the National Archives for the
passenger list, hoping they can find it, or review passenger list
microfilms yourself. I recommend reviewing the lists yourself - your
grandfather may be listed under his Hebrew or Yiddish name, or with a
surname variation a National Archives clerk might miss. You can order
the passenger list microfilms through your local Mormon Family History
Center. http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/PassLists

If you don't find your grandfather where you first look for him, you
might need to go back to the passenger list indexes. He might have
mis-remembered the specific date he arrived, but he or his parents
should be listed in the indexes, depending on his age at the time.

Good luck in your research - and put that computer keyboard aside <g>!

The Bulgaria was a ship of the Hamburg-America Line (Hapag), built in 1898
by Blohm & Voss.
She was a ship of 10,237 gross tons and carried 2,400 steerage passengers!
She sailed Hamburg-New York until 1913.
I hope this will be helpful to you.
