Wolf, Velvel vs. English equivalents #general

I had to put my two-penny-worth in .. no-one mentioned that the names
Velvel and Wolf were also changed to Victor in English. This was how my
English uncle (of Polish origin) came to be called Victor.

My brother-in-law was Velvel but his English name was Melvin. Often there is
no correlation between the two.

My fathers name is Wolf and everyone calls him velvel. The English name
he uses is Walter.
