My partner's grandfather >from Ariogala (near Kovno) studied photography
and violin in Odessa around 1903, give or take a year. He was probably
a late teenager at this point. I don't know anything about where he
studied or how long he was there.
(1) How can I determine the name of the school he attended? Was there
a school in Odessa that specialized in areas like the ones he studied?
(2) How common was it for someone >from the Kovno area to study things
like violin and photography in a place as far away as Odessa? Was this
an option available only to the relatively wealthy?
Thanks for your help.
