Surname BOCK > Emperor of Germany? #general

I located a naturalization record for Nathan BOCK, the husband to a third
cousin, Clara SCHWARZBAUM. He is selling shoes in Manhattan. On the
naturalization record under the heading "Former Nationality" the words
"Emperor of Germany" appear. I "googled" the name and did not find anything.
Does anyone have a clue? The immigration date given in the 1900 census is
1875. The naturalization record I am referring to is dated 6 Oct 1876 and
may be viewed on a commercial ancestry site.

His English wasn't up to snuff; he wanted to write "Empire of Gernamy".

Immigrated in 1875 and he's still selling shoes? That's impressive!
I somehow doubt he was the Kaiser, though. Probably it should have
said "Empire"...
