My gt gt gt grandfather was James Hopkins born in Somerset UK in 1936.
I have found no record of his birth. His father was Abel who I can find no
I think he was living with a Levi Hopkins in 1841 census in Chard Somerset UK.
A friend suggested that the names are Jewish and maybe James was of Jewish

I reckon these are not Jewish names, but biblical names - often used in
Britain and elsewhere by non-Jews.
