Old photos of non-relations #general

David Edelman <pappapeach@...>

I would suggest saving the pictures. Even if your particular relitaves
are not in every picture, these are people who your family did
obviously have contact with, and there may be other pictures of them
with your relatives. This helps put into a bigger, better picture of
"Who is my family, where did we come from."
Also, these days, it is much easier to scan the pictures, and share
them with who you may find are family of these other people. These
people then may also have forgotten pictures of your family, that
they, then will be more willing to share with you.
So, deffinetly save them, preserve them, and share them with whoever
can be identified with who are family of the people in the pictures.

I don't know how many there are but scan them and upload them onto an
Internet album, and then you can provide the link to anyone you want to
look at it - that is if you don't want to actually make it public.

Then you can store them away and also salve your conscience that you
are not hiding them away for noone to see.

I have old photos of my grandfather. Many include friends >from college
years (1920s). No one in the family has any idea who they are. I have no
need to preserve them, but I don't want to discard them either.
Suggestions?

Re Robert Dodell's posting on what to do with old photos:

Could Genners please state which country they live in, as this can have
a bearing on responses?

thanks

Hello ,
I would like to add another option to those already sugested:
If the photos are >from a university or any gathering of an assosiacion (
synagoge, or other)
It might be intersing for taht university or assosiation to exhibit them in
their library /museum

Robert:
Have you contacted the college? Some schools have a keen sense of
history and would be grateful for items that can be associated with an
individual, a date, and a place.
