from November 6 through 12, 2006, The New York Times is offering free acceesto The New York Times Historical Archive which includes article published
(This offer includes access to the entire TimesSelect resources.)
Go to: http://www.NYTimes.com/Free
- Click on where it says: Free Access"
- Scroll down to the bottom where it says "Archive" and click on the photo.
- Enter a search term: keyword or name. You will first get the "NY Times
Archive since 1981" results.
- Click on that box to switch to "NY Times Archive - 1851-1980" to retrieve
Remember that if you are a home delivery subscriber to the NY Times you
already qualify for free access to TimesSelect and their historical
newspaper archive >from your home computer. (You sign up using your
subscription account info.)
Log on and search under your family surname, business names, shtetl names
(your never know) for articles about your ancestors, information on
life-cycle events, wills, court cases, and more. If they lived in New York
City for any period of time you might be surprised to find them in these
