1929 Polish Business Directory Key? #poland

bette kindly referred me to the 1929 Polish Business Directory.

To understand the information given there for the town of Leoncin,
I need the key for the Directory, showing what a given abbreviation
means, and also what a given number means (e.g., houses, number of
total population, etc.). Is that key available?

Thanks.

The key is located on page 87. You can go there directly:

Larry,

Leoncin 'popularity' came to the light very recently when it was established
that Isaac Bashevis Singer was actually born there, not as previously listed
in towns Bilgoraj or Radzymin.

What you can see about Leoncin in Poland 1929 Poland Business Directory at:

http://data.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/1929/loadtop.htm?1970

is information that locality Leincin was located (re: 1921 national census
data) within parish Glusk.

Beside Leoncin within parish Glusk were also other villages: Gniewniewice,
Krobiczew, Polesie Stare, Rebitow, Secymin Polski and Teofile. In addition,
two homesteads: Secymin Niemiecki and Jakubowo are listed.

As you follow listings for the local busness people, you will notice
abbreviations shown in parentheses - those abbreviations are for the
villages names within the parish Glusk, thus Leoncin is identified as (L),
Secymin Polski as (SP), and so on. By following listings for people
identified with abbreviation (L) you will identify Jewish names within
the village Leoncin.

Anohor information in Directory say that Leoncin was port of Wisla River
steamers line. The nearest railway station was located 8 km distance in
Modlin, where also telegrph was located, and other facilities such as post
office and telephone were located in Zakroczym.

Where Once We Walked gazetteer lists preWWII Jewish population of Leoncin
as 149 souls - this information is extracted >from Pinkas Hakehillot, Poland
vol. IV, "Warszawa and its Region".

In 1880 Kingdom of Poland Geographical Dictionary, Leoncin has a very brief
entry, identified as a farm on the Gniewniewice homestead property.
