Looking for Landsman records ? #lithuania
Salinger Ralph
In the late 1800 until about the 1970, immigrants >from the various
shtetlach ran benevolent societies and associations to provide aid and social programming for their landsman. These were mostly in NYC but there were likely similar organizations in places like Baltimore. Most or all of these have shut down as the original immigrants died and their kids didn't have any interest in keeping them going. But what happened to all of their records? Did someone acquire them or did they simply end up in a landfill? I have no idea. Can anyone make some suggestions where to look ? Many thanks Ralph

Their website is www.yivo.org/research. I know they have records of burial and benevolent societies. Richard Gross

They are still around! I am sending a link about Our History. A contact email address and Brookline, MA phone number are way down at the bottom of the page. Good luck. I'd like to know what you find out about their old records. Donna Erickson dewriter77@comcast.net
