Visiting Balta #ukraine
Dave Lewak <dave@...>
I'm planning a trip to Europe for next summer (2019), and am thinking of trying to visit Balta, where my grandfather Bernard Mishuris was born. I think I would need to fly to Odessa and then need a translator/driver to take me to Balta and back again. However, I have no idea how to find a translator and driver.
Can anyone recommend a translator/driver? Or some service to organize the trip?
Also, the IAJGS Cemetery Project lists four cemeteries for Balta: https://www.iajgsjewishcemeteryproject.org/ukraine/balta.html. Has anyone visited any of the cemeteries recently? If so, what state did you find them in?
And if anyone has any advice about a trip to Balta, I would like to hear it!
thanks -- Dave Lewak
