receiving multiple digests and duplicate emails
Family and DNA
I've been receiving both individual mails AND digests. I've received several different digests just today! I have gone into my subscriptions & changed it to individual emails instead of digests, if this doesn't work to get rid of the digests I will repost... (I also put in a signature, it would be maybe good to add a piece of text on the window where you can create a signature, saying the max length? And also maybe it would be nice to see the signature when writing an email online?)

Hi Diane,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
At the bottom of each digest should be a link to "Your Subscription." Click on that, and you'll get to a page with four choices how to receive postings: Email Delivery Individual Messages You will receive each message in an
individual email.
Full Featured Digest Group up to 12 messages together as one email instead of being sent individually (rich formatting). Daily Summary A daily summary, delivered in the morning, of the group's messages from the previous day. Special Notices Only You will only receive special notices from the moderators. You'll probably see the 2nd option is selected - change that to the first one. (The image above is from my settings, ,and I already changed them.) Hilary Henkin Los Angeles area

1. So I’m trying to reply to Hilary Henkin, and I don’t see her email address. How can I reply directly to her/him?
Then, when I press “reply to group,” all I get is an email address of “main@groups” and No copy of the message to which I am “replying” is enclosed. That makes no sense! How will anyone know to what I am “replying”? 2. For years and years, I could read my Digest delivery once a day and it was clearcut and effective. Now, WHY, am I receiving 8-10 emails a day from JewishGen? Why doesn’t my all-in one true digest form stay as is? BTW, I definitely do Not want to receive individual emails. 3. I also tried to change the style of my subscription in which I receive these emails. I wasn’t successful in finding a way to do that. I simply do not understand why every person needs to formally change their subscription style. A stupid hassle. Conclusion, One more day of this, and I will cut my cord with Jewishgen. That is a sad story as I am a long-time member (and even started a discussion group —SRRG).

Hi All, Big thanks to Hilary Henkin for her helpful message "At the bottom of each digest should be a link to "Your Subscription." Click on that, and you'll get to a page with four choices how to receive postings .... Individual Messages / Full Featured Digest / Daily Summary / Special Notices Only".

Hilary,
You suggested,
There is no such link any place on the digests I've been receiving.
Btw, you message was in Digest #13, the SIXTH digest message I've received from JewishGen today. This definitely is not what I want.
On the other hand, having links to the messages in a summary at the top of each digest is a good feature, long overdue. However, what we need to accompany that feature is a link to "Top" that is located at each message in the digest.

I do not have a link at the bottom of these digests to changer how often I receive them. This is what is at the bottom of the digests I am receiving:
"You are receiving this email because you are subscribed to main@... via msnodrog@.... You can unsubscribe here" Please go back to the old format. This new format, getting multiple emails is very annoying! Channah

User-friendly sites have a Preferences button for managing
subscriptions, etc. I could find no such option here. I did discover what appears to be a quick and easy way to change your subscription preference to Daily Summary (i.e. only 1 email per day): Click on "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of the digest (or individual message, I presume). This opens a page with several options. Select "Switch to Daily Summary". I hope this works. Not very intuitive, but I had a feeling that if I "threatened" to unsubscribe, I might be offered other options! Oops, I just received another digest! Does this mean that my request for one per day did not take effect? I'll see what happens tomorrow. Victoria Barkoff Montreal, Canada

I don’t have an option to switch to daily so I sent a message to Help asking them to do it. Hope it works.
There is a daily option. Please go to your individual page and note how you want message delivery (see example below) Email Delivery Individual Messages You will receive each message in an individual email. Full Featured Digest Group up to 12 messages together as one email instead of being sent individually (rich formatting). Daily Summary A daily summary, delivered in the morning, of the group's messages from the previous day. Special Notices Only You will only receive special notices from the moderators.

Updating pages and an entire website is the pits...been there, done that. When I go to the jewishgen.org mailing list management page https://www.jewishgen.org/ListManager/ I am given these options: DIGEST — Receive daily digest with all the messages of the day INDEX — Receive daily index of the subject lines of the messages of the day MAIL — Receive mail as it is contributed NOMAIL — Receive no mail — Temporarily stop the mail In the answers to organizing my responses for the new mailing group, these are my options: Individual Messages - You will receive each message in an individual email. Full Featured Digest - Group up to 12 messages together as one email instead of being sent individually (rich formatting). Daily Summary - A daily summary, delivered in the morning, of the group's messages from the previous day. Special Notices Only - You will only receive special notices from the moderators. So, how and where can I access the new mailing group preference? And do the old choices page still apply or will that eventually match the new pages? Judi Missel Mesa, Arizona
