SIG emails

Davida Handler

I also have not been receiving any SIG emails since the new Digest was formed.  What is going wrong?  It also doesn't want to accept my JewishGen password, which I have used since approximately since 1990.  Davida Noyek Handler - co-founder of LitvakSIG in 1997.

I am not getting my SIG messages either. What do you have to do to receive them?

Moderator note: There was no change at all with the SIG groups. Only the JewishGen Discussion Group was upgraded at this time. When a message is posted in your particular SIG group, you will still receive it

same here. I understand there was no change to the SIGs but I stopped getting emails as of when this new group started. a coincidence?

The moderator says we have gotten no SIG emails because none have been sent. To try to verify this, I went to “search messages previously posted to the mailing lists” and clicked on the tab “JewishGen SIG Lists Message Archives.”  All I got was an error code.  So, I can’t even satisfy myself that I am missing nothing. As you say, “a coincidence”?
Even to  generate this reply, I had to request a special link to log on, because the JewishGen website doesn’t recognize my pass word when I try to send a message.

Messages have gone out to the Hungarian discussion list. I can't speak to the others but agree with others who have commented that messages don't go out if none have been received and moderated!  Also, may have been delays due to High Holidays.

I, also have not received a single message from the 4 groups to which I belong.

Jeff Miller

For what it's worth (FWIW), I received one SIG message today from Belarus (typically I get many messages each day from my various groups). Yesterday I received messages only from Austria-Czech and South Africa SIGs. The day before my messages to SIG lists included only Ukraine, Romania, LitvakSIG, and Yizkor Project.

On the last day I received a JewishGen digest, I also received messages from seven SIG Digests.

Warmest Regards,

If no one wrote to the other SIG’s then you didn’t miss anything…we are in a holiday season so maybe some people are not up for keeping in touch until after Simchat Torah is over…

I am unable to figure out how to get my SIG Digests back.  I also can't seem to log into the JewishGen home page.  Is there any help line that those of us who are not only confused but frustrated by this whole change?  I NEED HELP!!

As my inbox fills up with email regarding the new format for the general JewishGen SIG, I can say in my case, I am still getting mail from the Czernovitz SIG…

I used to receive an email daily from several SIGs. Now I'm not receiving any. I sincerely doubt there's been no activity in the several SIGs I belong to.

Write to support@..., like always.

But the SIGs are functioning normally, and have not moved to the new
platform. Your SIG lists probably just haven't had any posts for a
while.

A simple thing to do that would be reassuring in this confusing transition would be to have each SIG leader send a "Test" message to their group.  That would be a quick test of the theory that, amazingly, nobody has posted anything to be sent out in several days.  (Jeff Miller above says he sent a message to the Ukraine SIG, but I am a member of that SIG and I didn't receive it.)

Mods, is a test do-able?  (And Mods, thank you for all your efforts to modernize us)

Moderator Note: an excellent idea to assure everyone that if they are signed up for a SIG, there was no change because of the upgrade to the JewishGen Discussion Group. If you are a SIG leader, would you please send out a "test message."

Please send out a "test message"

I have had a similar problem to those described  here.

My usual 'traffic' from SIGs has reduced dramatically but I have been able to find a way into the system and can see I am still subscribed as before. However, since this new website was introduced I have sent at least two, possibly three, requests for help to the very address Dick Plotz gives above: support@... and never heard a thing!

I have though realised that a totally new password for this mains@... site is required, and that my original password for the general JewishGen site remains as before.

I think a 'test' would serve its purpose, but suspect that some of the explanatory notes intended to help us all navigate our way around this new group still needs simplification.

So, has any SIG leader carried out this excellent idea?   I haven’t got any test messages.
