Khashchevate - Chashivater Aid Society
Paul Finelt
Does anyone have any information on this town and/or the Burial Society that has plots ar Montefiore Cemetary in Queens, NY and Beth Moses on Long Island?
My grandfather and uncle are buried there. My uncle was an officer of the society. I have not been able to locate any details about the organization either at YIVO or from the cemeteries or other family members. Thank you. I own the WPA-produced directory of New York landsmanschaften. There is (or was) an info file on the book on the JewishGen website. The book is in Yiddish, which I'm not great at reading, and my attempt at finding your society was unsuccessful. In my search, I stumbled on what appears to be an English translation of the book from 1992. I've attached some information. Maybe a library near you has a copy. Good Luck! On
https://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/community.php?usbgn=-1041550 you will see four JOWBR data on the Montefiore and Beth Moses cemeteries where burial of Chasewater (also listed as Hashevater and Chashtchivater) Aid Societies are listed. There is also link to Khashchuvatye, Ukraine (current town Ukrainian name spelling) Yzkor Book and listing of 67 researchers for this town in JGFF database. Best Alexander Sharon JGFF editor |

Hi!
we are aware of the plot and the Izkor book. We are looking for information about the society itself, who was in it, which activities did they organize. I found the book recommended, but it is about landmanshaften in general. |
