I am seeking any information on Heinrich SCHARF, b. Leipnik, Moravia, 19 December
1860. According to a brief history of the Leipnik Jewish community, Heinrich
SCHARF was the last mayor of the Jewish section of Leipnik. In 1905, he was
made a councillor of the Leipnik board responsible for "looking after Jewish
interests". He is listed in the Shoah database as a victim, perishing about
1942 in an unnamed concentration camp. Heinrich's wife was my relative, Katharina
ZERKOWITZ, b. Leipnik, 10 February 1860, daughter of Lazar ZERKOWITZ and Betty
(WINTER). Katharina was the aunt of U.S. inventor Oscar Ulysses ZERK (1878-1868),
born in Leipnik as Oscar ZERKOWITZ, son of her brother, Bernhard Lazar ZERKOWITZ
(1850-1940). Katharina was also a Shoah victim.

I know that Heinrich and Katharina SCHARF had children, but I have no names. In
1978, a granddaughter, Elise FRITSCH of Dusseldorf filed a Page of Testimony with
Yad Vashem for both Heinrich and Katharina. If anyone has any additional
information on this SCHARF-ZERKOWITZ family, please contact me.
