In 1945, that hotel was requisitionned to receive the survivors. The
French Red Cross and teams of voluntaries did welcome them and help
them with different sorts of problems : to register their names, to
give them meals and bed in the hotel, to deal with medical problems,
to try to find their families, etc. In the hall of the hotel, there
were lots of photos with names and questions, and also people holding
photos and asking : who can tell news of this one or this this other
one. The deportees had a telephone at their disposal to call their
families. They could return home with a taxi, free of charges for
them.

Nowadays, it's a normal hotel again.

I know that it was the headquarters of the German Gestapo during the World
War II occupation.
What was its post-war function (1945)?
I believe it was a registry location for deportees returning after the war.
How did it operate?
