A friend has asked about a family named SCOOTE who lived in Brixton,
London at the start of the 20th century and is thought to be Jewish. A
member of the family died as a soldier in the First World War and is
buried in Salonika.
He was 42344 Dvr George Henry Scoote. Royal Field Artillery, died 15
September 1916. Parents: John William and Fanny Scoote. One clue is that
the family is said to have come >from Poland.
I have looked at the British Jewry Book of Honour but his name is not
