i just reminded myself of another saying in yiddish ehr veint vi a beaver the explanation i heard was that the beaver while going in to the his captures is crying so like saying you are your self to blame and tears of your own making pleas fill me in if you know more

Halts Kamer, means in Yiddish wood chamber, or a room in where you keep wood, the saying is an old one in Yiddish, and not in German, the rest of the words would have been phrased different in German, plus the whole sentence wouldn’t make sense if it meant a kneck
