My possible relative on the 1940 is listed Meyer, Ruth, Bert, Fred Rosenbaum.   After her name is a X in a circle.   What does that mean?

Not certain if they are cousins - Trying to prove yes or no.

Fred died in California and is buried in St. Louis – Chesed Shel Emet  White Road.
