Hi all, my great-grandfather had been a staunch Republican, in and outside of local office, through the mid-1930s in Paterson, NJ. The family then moved to Miami Beach. I found a couple of local political gossip columns in NJ which noted that he'd supposedly changed his political identity in Florida to Democrat! It's pretty hilarious to me but would make sense--the columns do note that the region was quite Democratic, and it'd be smart for business to go with the flow.
I'm hoping that I might be able to get my hands of archived voter registration info which would show that he did indeed register there as a Democrat? (Nothing via Ancestry right now.)
