Research based on address - Kolomyja, Lviv, Zolkiew #galicia

Daniella Alyagon

I have a list of addresses in Kolomjya \ Lviv \ Zolkiew used by my family.

I am wondering what possible records I can search based on the address in addition to Tabula records and where are these records located. I am starting to plan a research trip to the Lviv area.

Thank you

Are you a member of Gesher Galicia? You should check the cadastral maps there of Kolomya and there you can view where a particular house number is compared to a city map. Any questions write info@....

Good luck,

I am a member of Gesher Galicia.

I have always found comparing the maps fairly problematic.

In addition, I am trying to prepare a list of records to be researched based on house numbers / address in addition to vital records.

Dear Daniella,

On  JewishGen in the Poland Section you have the Poland 1929  Business Directory. In some cases the address of the business is mentioned. If your relatives were in business there is fair chance

to find their business address. Here is the link to Kolomiya pages  https://www.jewishgen.org/databases/poland/1929/P1489.pdf

Good luck

Allow me to clarify

I have the address already

I am interested in understanding what archival records are relevant for a specific address (for example: mortgage, list of owners, ownership changes…) and where are these records located (which archive)

Thank you

My Lowenkron family hailed from Zolkiew/Lviv/Derevnya....my family hired Alex Dunai who did terrific research and then we joined him for a family trip in the whole area......too, we re related to the Altman family who lived in nearby areas...Bill Leibner is related to them too and could probably be helpful re maps

City landscapes change over time. It can be difficult comparing a Cadastral Map with a modern city map. The best way to do that is to get somebody who is familiar with the town today to look at the Cadastral Map and point out where the house number you have for your record falls out today.

To find all records associated with a house number you can search by house number on the All Galicia Database of Gesher Galicia.

Hope this helps.
