Felissa Lashley

One of our cousins, Julius LASSEN/LISHINSKY/LESCHINSKY son of
Isaac/Isaiah from the Ukraine was known within the family as "Cuttie".
Does anyone have any idea what this nickname might refer to?

Thank you.

Hi,

One possibility is that it originated from the name Yekutiel.

One of my uncles, Isador Fogel, was known by Cuddy.  I never met him, as he was killed on Saipan.  I will check with one of my cousins, to see if he knows the source of the name.

I had a friend who had a scottish terrier named Cuttie.  It was short for Cutty Sark scotch whisky.  :o)

In England cute children are often referred to as cutie as a term of endearment and this can stick after childhood. It is sometimes miss-spelt as Cuttie,
