It is our pleasure to announce the appointment of Christina Hilsenrath to the Board of Directors of Gesher Galicia.
Christina Hilsenrath grew up with her mother’s stories about her childhood in Berlin, her family holidays in Galicia, her escape to England on the Kindertransport and the murder of most of her Galician family in the Holocaust.
As an active member of Gesher Galicia, Christina has authored articles on her family history and research methodologies in the Galitzianer, the organization’s research journal. She has a particular research interest in Holocaust records, as well as building links with educational and research organizations in Europe.
Christina has a BA degree in history from Cambridge University, and worked in health service improvement in the UK. She lives in Bath, England, where she is also chair of the Jewish Burial Ground. She is currently leading the restoration of the Burial Ground and researching its history and the lives of the people buried there.
We look forward to Christina’s deeper involvement in organizational activities of Gesher Galicia.
On behalf of the Board of Directors,
