Researching Benjamin Lakritz #poland #usa #general

My husband's grandfather Chaim Mendel Lakryc/Hyman "Max" Lakritz, had many half-siblings but only shared both parents with one brother, Binyamin/Benjamin Lakryc/Lakritz.  According to his Polish birth record, he was born in Chorzele, Poland in 1885.  His parents were Wolf Berek Lakryc and Rajzla Biszberger.  This is the only record I have found for him.

I recently found the graves of Benjamin and Rebecca Lakritz on Find A Grave in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Glendale, NY but I do not have a photo.  The memorial lists Benjamin's birthdate as 1887 and that he died in 1976.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any other records for Benjamin or Rebecca.

If anyone has any information that could help in my search for Benjamin I would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance,
Susan Rand-Lakritz

Mount Lebanon has five Lakritz burials on their online database.  You can check yourself at

www.mountlebanoncemetery.com/search/
#results

You can search by name and by society without names so you can see all those buried in that society and you may find other names
you are related to .

Click on contact and you will get address,
Phone, and email address to contact them.
Some NYC cemeteries will take a photo for you for free or a small fee so let them know you are in Israel.

Good luck. If you need more suggestions, you can email me privately.

Susan,

A search at Ancestry.com and Familysearch.org found a few records:

It looks like Benjamin LAKRITZ, born Sep. 188? (year changes slightly on various records, as does the date in September) was in the U.S. Army in WW1, and his father is listed as Solomon LAKRITZ.

His birthplace is given as Warsaw.  However, on his naturalization papers his birthplace looks like Chrusnitz (sp??)

This is a transcription of Benjamin's 1923 NYC marriage record, which lists his father & mother's names:
Event Type: Marriage

Event Place: Manhattan, New York, New York, United States
Event Place (Original): Manhattan, New York, New York

Birth Year (Estimated): 1891
Birthplace: Warsaw, Russia

Spouse's Birthplace: Podalia, Russia
Spouse's Marital Status: Single
Spouse's Race: White

Hope this helps,
