List of Victims of Babi Yar? #ukraine #holocaust

David Levine

Hi everyone

I've been searching for lists of victims killed at Babi Yar but have not been successful. Does this exist?
In general, it has been hard to find names of my family members who died by the holocaust by bullets as far less records were kept of these mass murders.
Thanks

It is mentioned that the lists may not be complete.
What are the first/last names that you are looking for?

Thank you for posting those, especially the first. I can read some Russian/Ukrainian and have saved the links.
! had not seen the victims laid out like that before in family groups with the ages.

As the Germans approached Kiev, the Russian army withdrew.  Russian men of military age had gone with the army, leaving their wives and children behind.
It is heartbreaking here to see the groups of a mother or grandmother with young children listed as victims, just as described in Grossman's Black Book.

I think it is appropriate to mention the poem Babi Yar by Yevtushenko (1961). Read the English translation and the Russian original (text and audio) plus commentary by A.Z. Foreman at:

David Levine, on April 27, 2021 asked about names on lists of Jews who were killed at the end of September 1941 at Babi Yar, a 60 yard long ravine.
A partial list of two thousand names of Jews killed at Babi Yar does exist.  The book was researched in the late 1970s & early 80s by recent arriving Russian Jews who came to the Philadelphia area. The Soviet Government played no part in the research. Letters were received from the U.S., Israel and Jews from the USSR.
The names are given in Russian, English, and Yiddish. The only data are the full names and their age. Many large families are included. Professor Nora Levine of Gratz College in Philadelphia, Shimon Kipnis & Joseph Vinokurov, recent immigrants from the USSR (Kiev), edited the book.
If anyone has a name, I would be happy to look it up for them.
