Jewish Cemetery in Baimaclia, currently in Moldova Republic #bessarabia

Yefim Kogan

Hello everybody,

You may remember from previous presentations at JewishGen conferences that there are a number of Jewish cemeteries destroyed in Bessarabia / Moldova region.
Here is a list of 11 such cemeteries:

There are also a number of cemeteries where 1 or 2 tombstones standing, and the rest is ruined.  For example:  Dombroveni Jewish cemetery:
There is one stone still standing, where we could read the name. When I posted a message about that cemetery, I received from our member, 3 more names of people buried there.  If you know of people who buried in any of these demolished or almost destroyed cemeteries, please send me that information.

Next Jewish cemetery demolished is Baimaclia Jewish Cemetery in Cantemir district, not far of Cahul in Moldova.
I have already received three names of people buried there, and also many photos of pieces of stones, some with a Hebrew letter.  These photos will be part of Baimaclia Cemetery Report.
If you know people buried in Baimaclia,  please email me.

After Baimaclia, we will work on Destroyed Jewish cemetery of Kaushany.  I have a number of family members buried there: my grandmother Fanya Spivak (Khaimovich), great grandmother Golda Khaimovich (Srulevich), great great grandmother Sheiva Srulevich died in Kaushany in 1941 at the age of 104 and many more.

If you know of someone died/buried in Baimaclia, Kaushany, please send me that information at yefimk@....
Also if you know about a destroyed Jewish Cemetery, which is not on my list, also let me know.

All the best,
