My interpretation: Notions (works for himself.) Bald Brown Wig You can check on his occupation by looking at census records, and old city directories. It looks like he may show up in 1919 St. Louis directory, at same address as on draft card, as Samuel MITCHELL, listed under: confectioners (retail.)
