Online exhibition at AGAD, on centenary of birth of Stanislaw Lem #galicia

Gesher Galicia SIG

Stanisław Herman Lem, the internationally known science-fiction
writer, philosopher and literary critic, was born in Lwów/Lemberg/Lviv
on September 13, 1921. His books, the best known of which is the
science-fiction novel "Solaris", have been translated into more than
50 languages. A while ago, the Polish Sejm designated 2021 as the Year
of Stanisław Lem.

The Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw (AGAD) has
prepared an online exhibition about Lem's early years, based mainly on
record books of the Jewish community in Lwów held at AGAD. Included in
this exhibition are the birth certificates of Stanisław Lem and his
close relatives. Gesher Galicia provided assistance (acknowledged on
the exhibition's website) in the form of a map of Lwów from 1920,
showing the street where Lem was born.

The Director of AGAD, Dr Hubert Wajs, is inviting people to view the
exhibition, whose opening coincides with the centenary of Lem's birth,
