September 2021 Summary of IAJGS Records/Family Search and Poland microfilms #poland #records

Yes. There are restrictions on images. Not just from Poland. But I cannot find rhyme or reason to it. Some of my Polish villages are accessible from home. Others are not. Odd thing here is -- the villages are all in walking distance from each other !
Chicago vital records images also restricted.
Also, I have attached sources and I have been able to get to the image through the attached source. Also able to view the rest of the film that way!

If your center is closed, the wifi is still on. I have been told I can sit in the parking lot with my laptop and access records that way. Haven't tried it yet!
Anything is worth a try!

If you know the microfilm number you can request a record at this site:
The staff will send you the image by email. I have gotten a number of records this way lately.

Yes there are.  You need to go to a Family History Center - and take a large capacity flash drive.  When you find the records you want right click and save image as to your flash drive.  Do not be fooled by anyone there who says if you attach it to your "tree" that you can view from home - because I tried it with one record and it did not work when I got home.   What I did was make a rather long list of records in Excel from JRI Poland and then when I went to Salt Lake (in 2019) I found most of them with the help of a wonderful Polish lady.   The agreement that FS made with the Polish government is that the records can only be viewed in a FHL.  That said I could have gone to a local FHL - but chose not to, as my husband had professional meetings near Salt Lake and also wanted to research at the University.

Are there restrictions on access to FamilySearch POLAND JEWISH microfilm digitizations? Some researchers say a patron of FamilySearch has to actually be physically in a Library or Records Room to gain access to those parts of the microfilm collection.
