Bendet-Padkove Family #poland #lithuania

Shalom Friends,

A footnote in "Pinkas Bialystok" says that my ancestor "Reb Shmuel the Hasid was a well-known sage and righteous man. He was descended from the well-known BENDET PADKOVE family".

All I know is that Padkove means horeshoe in Yiddish. The family got this name because one of them was almost killed by a horse tramping on him with its shoe, in the Chmielnicki uprising.

Is the BENDET PADKOVE family actually well-known? Does anyone know anything about them?

Thank you very much,

Yoav Aran
