 I am looking for a particular marriage record for the year 1936  or 1937  in  Lodz, Poland.  
Does the record  mention the maiden name of the bride's mother.?

If you can help in any way, on behalf of my friend whose parents survived the Holocaust
she says thanks

I have checked on two mariage records (copies sent by Lodz USC) of grand-aunts in Lodz, 1929 and 1933.
Both mention maiden name of bride's mother (my GGM).

JRI-Poland has the Lodz marriage (and death) records indexed online up to 1935. It’s possible that they may have the years after that offline. Your best and easiest option is to write to Joe Ross, the town leader at JRI-Poland and inquire. Details are in their website. If they do have those years, ordering the documents is quick and easy. I’ve done so many times.

If JRI-P doesn’t have those years, you could write directly to the Lodz branch of the Polish State Archives to inquire. I’ve also done that many times and have always found them to be efficient and thorough. It’s best to write to them in Polish and of course they reply in Polish, plus if they do find documents you want, they usually require payment by direct bank transfer, so all that makes things a little more complicated. But not too difficult if you really want those documents.
