The December 20, 2021 edition of the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza carried a legal notice indicating that Janina & Zdzisław Roś of Sanok have applied to the Regional Court in Sanok, First Civil Division, for a declaration to the effect that the following individual is deceased:

Scheindla STEIN ELIASZ, whose last known address was ul. Lwowska, Sanok.

On March 24, 1938, Scheindla legally bequeathed to her daughter, Sala Stein RINGEL (later known as Maria KAMIŃSKA), a property on ul. Lwowska now designated as “KW KS1S/00012601/0, nr 1377” with a stipulation that she (Scheindla) should retain the right to lifetime use of an apartment with a kitchen on the first (U.S.: second) floor of the building on land parcel no. 271/2.  That contract was confirmed by the Sanok Regional Court on September 3, 1945 [Decision I Co 81/45] and Sala Stein, Scheindla’s daughter, then age 34, was confirmed to be the owner of the property.

The Court, having had no word of Scheindla STEIN in over 70 years, knowing that she had not made use of her guaranteed apartment and not knowing if she even survived World War II, calls upon her or anyone with information about her fate to come forward.  Anyone contacting the Court should cite Docket No. I Ns 556/21.

Best wishes,
