Reizla KATZ, Jaworzno #poland

Yale Reisner

The January 5, 2022 edition of the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza carried a legal notice from the Regional Court in Jaworzno indicating that the City of Jaworzno was preparing to take possession of a property on ul. 700-lecia in Jaworzno, designated as “dz. nr 66/2 w obr. Jeleń, LWH 420/Jeleń” and consisting of 135 sq. meters.  The registered owner of the property is one Reizla KATZ.

Anyone with knowledge of the fate of Reizla KATZ of Jaworzno or of her family is asked to contact the pertinent court within three months of the notice’s publication.  In communicating with the Court, reference should be made to Docket No. I Ns 550/21.

Best wishes,

Hi from Paris,
Thank you Yale for your watch on this matter and this advice.
I am not concerned by any property in Poland (Galicia & Lodz) , my family was too poor.
But I have a general question.
I understand that a Polish city can take official property of a former Jewish estate which has been without any owner since Shoah...
But what about value of this property ?
In western Europe, I guess an evaluation of the property would be done and this money would be given to Claims or a national Jewish fund.
Could you tell us what is the situation in Poland ?
Thank you
Bernard Flam
