I found the 1921 England census with information on my gggrandparents. Can anyone read the city names in between “Russia” and “Kovno”?

Kowno in Polish, Lithuanian: Kaunas, Byelorussian: Коўна, Russian: КаунасКовно or КовнаYidysz קאָוונע; Kowne)

Kowna is a variational spelling. W in Polish is replaced by V in English.

Perhaps this one in Lithuania for the town on the 2nd census line, info found at:
186.0 miles WNW of Vilnius 54°41' N 25°19' E
Nemirseta, Nemeržetà, Nėmeržata, Nimmersatt, Nemerzhara, Nemerzatė

The JewishGen Gazetteer
has a few possibilities for "Sverna" when doing a soundex search.

Svirniai, Svirnay, Svirni  110.6 miles NW of Vilnius 54°41' N 25°19' E
Severėnai 129.9 miles WNW of Vilnius 54°41' N 25°19' E
And, other possibilities also.

However, none of these towns are near Kovno.

You may want to search for other documents that may list these town names more clearly, such as naturalization.

Good luck in your search,
Sherri Bobish
