Searching WEISSBURG #usa

Jay Hamburger

Interesting connection.  The name Billy rings a vague bell from somewhere.  Were they Texans?  I have found very few of same/similar names in TX.  There was a Gentile Hamburger family in Houston who were friends.  Phil Hamburger was a Member of Houston City Council in the '50-'60's and later worked in PR for NASA

Jay - Thank you so much for your (interesting) reply, and the knowledge that there is an Israel connection, and I wonder where they fit on the family tree.  I also wonder if the Los Angeles branch ever learned of the murder of their (possible) relative in Auschwitz.

Additionally, it looks like we also have a HAMBURG(ER) connection: Sisters, Mae/May WEISSBURG and Sophie WEISSBURG were BOTH married to William ‘Billy’ HAMBURG(ER).  When May died very young, Billy married her sister, Sophie.  That story is a novella in itself that I won’t go into right now as it is very sad.

A distance, but knew Zofia and (Yehudah?) Weisburg in TelAviv.  Yehudah died about 30+ years ago and Zofia about 20+-.  From Eastern Europe, and Zofia was a 'patient' of Dr Josef Mengele at Auschwitz.  2 sons, Jacky & Micky about 50ish who still live in Tel Aviv.

GOOD LUCK!

Searching WEISSBURG:

Hungary, Austria, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Given names: Hermine, Arthur,
Jennie, Sophie, May.
Hermine WEISSBURG became my step-grandmother by marrying my (widower)
grandfather, Samuel JACOBSON, in Chicago, and outlived him by several years.

I knew the branch living on Crescent Heights, in L.A., where they had the
first indoor stairlift I had ever seen, and a succession of adorable pug
dogs.

Hoping for contact.
