Dear Nicole

My late wife's greatgrandfather's birth town was recorded as Blasdike when he died in Berlin in 1882. I have never discovered where this place is, could it be Blaszki?
His name was Abram Joseph Weltzman/Welcman/Wolcman.

Long-time Błaszki and area researchers will be pleased to learn that Jewish Records Indexing - Poland is undertaking a huge new “Phase 3” project to fully extract all surviving Błaszki birth, marriage and death records from 1826 to 1939. To carry out this major initiative, we now have the scans (digital images) of all surviving Błaszki records in the Poznań branch of the Polish State Archives. The project involves the extraction of the 1826 to 1867 and 1914 to 1921(B), 1939(M,D) Polish records and the 1868 to 1913 Russian records.

Most surviving records have already been basically indexed. The phase 3 project involves extracting all genealogically relevant data found in the records.

As Town Leader, I shall warmly welcome any volunteers willing to contribute some time to the project. Fluency in Polish and/or Russian is not essential.

Also as Town Leader, it would be my pleasure to send you a full description of the project and explain how you will be able to obtain extracts as well as digital images of your family records before they go online.

I look forward to hearing from you.
