I know that my mother was in Iserlohn, North Rhine, Germany, dp camp but haven't found any lists and would very much be interested to do so. She was raised RC but was actually ethnically Jewish..

The Arolsen Archives has DP camp records for the American, British and French zones, as well as for Austria and Italy.
The World Jewish Congress had survivors in Romania fill out questionnaires in 1945. USHMM indexed them as part of the World Memory Project. You didn't mention if your relative was in a DP Camp in Germany or in Austria or in Romania. The records for the DP-Camps in Germany ar held by the Arolsen Archives. I'm not sure if they also have records from Austria. As far as I know there are not all records online they have in their Archives and not all online records are already indexed. So if you don't find some records about the people you are looking for on their Online Archives, you can write to them. Hi Nicola Are the papers from the DP Camp Nonnenhof you mention from the Arolsen Archives Online? I found out that there was a DP Camp Nonnenhof in Sigmaringen, this was in the French occupied zone. Sigmaringen is situated in South Württemberg, Heidelberg is situated in North Baden. I would also be interested in replies to this topic. The information I have, is that my father was taken by Russian liberators to a DP camp in Romania. He left it of his own accord after being concerned that inmates were being taken to Russia, and ended up in Bucharest. This is oral testimony only and I have found no records to tell me where it might have been. In addition my non-Jewish Transylvanian mother and grandmother were in a DP camp called Nonnenhof (I have their papers). I believe it to have been somewhere near Heidelberg. I can find no records that it existed, but the papers are quite clear that it did. They are in French so it must have been in the French Zone. I have found information on DP camps hard to trace. Now we have a link, if I find any more, I will add it here. |

Does anyone know of databases or indexes for the survivors in DP camps after they were liberated from the Camps?
I am searching for the sister of my grandmother. The family was from the area around Cluj in the Transylvania region of Romania. I have her maiden name and the name of her second husband, but not the surname of her first husband and children. She survived but sadly her husband and children did not. I do not know their names.
After the war, she went to a DP camp and then to Palestine. She remarried another survivor who she met while in the DP camp. Thank you all for your generosity,
