I think it says Akibo, more commonly pronounced and written as Akiva.  Both Yaakov (Jacob) and Akiva are names with a shared root word meaning heel but they are definitely separate names. Jacob could have been an easier secular name to go by. See if you can find a gravestone since you have the parents names, that may provide a Hebrew name and the name he was known by together.

My great-great-great-great grandfather from eastern Poland was called Kiwa. The fact that this is a synonym for Jacob is confirmed by his daughter's headstone, where it gives her name as bat Yakov

A relative listed on later census and other documents as Jacob seems to be the same person who was named Akiho at birth. (Akiho Abramovits) Birth record is attached. To me, the name does look like Akiho, as it has been transcribed. Is there any relationship or translation that would tie the names Akiho and Jacob to the same person? I recognize that his parents might have just chosen to use another name -- I am trying to help establish that this is the same person.

Akiho was born in New York City. His parents (Nathan and Ester Rothbarth Abramovits.)  were born and married in Hungary and came to New York from Hungary just a few years prior to the birth.
