Finding birthplace PREDBORICE of great grandfather SIGMUND KOHN in BOHEMIA #austria-czech #records

My great grandfather SIGMUND WILLIAM KOHN was born in Predborice (Predboritz) in Bohemia 20 May 1971. He came to the US alone in July 1884, and his name on the passenger manifest is ISAK KOHN. With each of his marriages he listed parents SAMUEL KOHN and ANNA KOHN/COHEN. There are 3 towns called Predborice in the Czech Republic, and I am looking for records that indicate which one is his hometown. I've been searching in the Czech Republic records that have been digitized and have more to view. Advice for other sources is welcome! Susan Engert sfengert@....

I like to work with historical maps and have looked for the locations of the three Predborice you mention. If relative position to known Jewish communities and sites is any indicator of likelihood, then I would suggest that the one pictured in the screenshot below is the one. It is located in the county of Mulhausen or Milevsko (Cz). It is pictured on the road between Zahoran and Petrowic below. It is also close to the county line, the dashed-dotted feature.

The two other examples of Predboric(e) are rather remote from Jewish sites. You can visit my live map of the Bohemian-Moravian area here by using the town finder sheet. To take you to the region of the map position I share here use the town finder to locate one of the towns with the blue pin, such as Zahoran or Laschowic. If you are interested in looking at the other positions of Predborice please email me.

I hope this is helpful.

Is this the guy (profile on Geni)?

His parents are Samuel Kohn and Anna Kohn, born Kohn, both said to have died in Předbořice, okres Písek, Jihozápad, Czech Republic. Unfortunately the profiles do not provide links to the records in Vademecum but only useless screenshots from Badatelna. Are you familiar with Vademecum?

What digitalized records are you referring to?
