Neurodiversity and Genealogy #general

My mom, brother, and I all have ADHD. It is genetic but can also be environmental, though it's the former in our case. I suspect my maternal grandmother might've had it too.

We also all have Lynch Syndrome, got that from grandpa :(

If one reads a biography of the Vilna Gaon, one can easily conclude that he was probably autistic. He sat in his room and studied. He only came out for the Sabbath and Holidays. They were also the only times he had relations with his wife. He never became a Rabbi, because he could not face taking the necessary exams.

Several years ago my wife and I made the acquaintance of a young Jewish woman who was definitely on the Autistic Spectrum. She was otherwise very pleasant and so we invited her to our seder one Passover  During the evening she told us that she was descended from the Vilna Gaon.

Yes. I have learned that people in several generations of both my husband's and my families had Tourette's or tics, and from anecdotes and descriptions, a few folks may have been autistic as well (although that term would not have been used at the time). This was of interest, as there are several individuals in my and my child's generation that are neurodivergent / neurodiverse.

Hello,

I am curious if any genealogists who have neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia or Dyspraxia)in their family found that the discoveries they made about their ancestors suggested they may also have been neurodiverse.
I was diagnosed as dyspraxic as a child which is strongly associated with clumsiness and I found in the Antwerp police records that their was a neighbour who complained about my great grandmother spilling too much water at the water pump.

Best Regards
