Miriam Beila Horowitz (Isserles) (RM"A sister) connection to Rashi #rabbinic

Adam,

Thank you for these links.

The tree is interesting. If anyone happens to have a link to tsufnot online, that would be good to read.

Although Englard's work must be reviewed before making an assesment, I find it unlikely that Dinah Malka is not the RMA's mother. This is because the RMA's father is not a Rashi descendant, and it seem to be well-known that the RMA is. Having said that, maybe Englard proposes another mother of the RMA.

I think the place to look would be the RMA cemetery. It is possible that the RMA's mother is buried there are her headstone mentions her renowned son. I will make a post about this.

Yoav,

Whether this is of any help I cannot say, but on one Isserles Tree ( https://www.davidicdynasty.org/isserles/ ) I have seen this annotation: "[Shlomo] Englard disputes the parentage of Dina Malka." This is the very parentage you are investigating so I suppose a reading of the Englard analysis may be a good place to begin, if you can find that text somewhere (I do not have the Englard text). Here is a discussion of Englard's work: https://www.jewishgen.org/Rabbinic/infofiles/evaluating.htm.

Best Wishes,

Eva,
Neil Rosenstein's work mainly deals with the descendants of the Maharam of Padua - roughly speaking from 1500 to now, not from 1000 to 1500.
Yoav, I have a list from Rashi to the Maharam of Padua (and then all the way to me), but not sources. If you are interested, let me know.

Since you live in London, I suggest you look at Neil Rosenstein's massive genealogical work,  which is available to view in the JGSGB library in Camden Town. The address, booking details and opening times and the nominal charge are on the JGSGB website, .  .--

Shalom,

I am trying to collect all the sources that prove my connection to Rashi. I can prove up until the RM"A's sister, Miriam Beila Horowitz.

I am wondering if there is one site with all the sources that show the connection of Miriam, the RM"A's sisiter, to Rashi. (To start with,a source for Miriam's and the RM"A's mother being Dina Schrentzel would be interesting).

Thank you very much,
