Oppenheim family history #lithuania

Deborah Lane

Hi everyone. I am searching for a book by Bert Oppenheim which traces the history of the Oppenheim family in Lithuania. On Amazon they are selling it as a collector's item for $1450.00- a bit steep! Does anyone know where I might be able to obtain the book for a reasonable price? Thank you

I don't know where that book could be found for a cheaper price, but it is listed in worldcat (a global library catalog) asbeing  held at 22 libraries around the world. Your local library might be able to interlibrary loan a copy, or you could look at a copy in a library if you happen to be near one that holds it in the future.

I have this book which I bought from the author when he was alive - I think it was self published and it was inexpensive then. His ancestors came from Vishtinetz then in Suwalki gubernia in Poland, now Vistytis in Lithuania (since end of WW1). I can do a look up. The book refers to relations of the Oppenheims with the Brins (my family), the Mittenthals (Aaron Copland's family) and the Rubensteins (also my family). A number of Oppenheims came to Edinburgh, Scotland from Vishtinetz as did my Brin/Brown family.

Try eBay.  But don’t give up just try from time to time!
