Need help with the Initials of the name engraved in a personal object #usa
angel kosfiszer
I am trying to determine the initials of the name engraved in some gifted objects. The date of the gift is stated in the message, 1864, and is part of the engraving of a tea/coffee set given to a teacher by his pupils. I would like to know if, given the character set used in all the 6 pieces of the set, the name of the teacher was D.I. Capron, or could it be D.J. Capron. The engraving may have been done in Maryland. I am attaching a picture showing the engraving.

Hi Angel,
Maybe it's this person - David J. CAPRON (prof. of mathematics.) Faculty of St. John's College. He is on the 1860 census: Anne Arundel, Annapolis, MD, St. John's College. David CAPRON, b. 1810 Rhode Island, prof. of mathematics. Wife, several children, and possibly his father, are also listed. Also listed is a 15 year old servant girl. Good luck in your search, Sherri Bobish Searching: RATOWSKY / CHAIMSON (Ariogala, Lith.); LEFFENFELD / FINK / KALTER (Daliowa & Jasliska, Pol.) BOJDA / BLEIWEISS (Tarnow & Tarnobrzeg, Pol.); WALTZMAN / WALZMAN (Ustrzyki Dolne, Pol.) LEVY (Tyrawa Woloska, Pol.); SOLON / SOLAN / SOKOLSKY (Grodek, Bialystok, Pol.)
