Sarah Landau is on the 1905 NJ State Census with three children - Annie, Manuel & Florence.
Morris Landau is not there, so he must have passed on prior to June 1905.

The last year that Morris Landau appears in Paterson city directories is 1905.  In 1906 Sarah Landau is listed as the widow of Morris.

You can assume that Morris Landau passed on sometime in 1904 or the first half of 1905 probably.  They had to collect the directory information some time prior to publishing.

This is the family on the 1900 census with the surname misspelled.

you will see that Morris Landau naturalized in Passaic County in 1903.  You can see his nat papers at the above free site.  Morris gives his birthplace as Glotz, Russia.

I feel like I’ve exhausted all the regular avenues to find reliable records on my GGF Moshe Duvid (Morris) Landau and GGM Sara (Solomonski) Landau. They were presumably both born in 1860 in Raciaz, Poland, but their surnames are not in that town’s surname book. They emigrated - supposedly - in 1891 or 1892, settling in Paterson, NJ. Moshe had a child by a previous marriage and, according to Paterson city directories, he left Sara a widow by 1910. I cannot find a death certificate for either of them. I cannot find immigration documents. I keep looking for census records that might tell me when they married, but the only ones I can find are from after Moshe died. 

Any sage wisdom? Am I better off hiring an expert? If so, who would you recommend?
