The Edward Blank YIVO Vilna Online Collections

Presentation by – Jonathan Brent

The Edward Blank YIVO Vilna Online Collections project is an international project to preserve, digitize, and virtually reunite YIVO's prewar library and archival collections located in New York City and Vilnius, Lithuania. . Jonathan Brent will describe this collection, its looting by the Nazis and its survival during WWII, followed by its rediscovery in 1991 and digitization over 7 years by YIVO, 2014-2022. .

Biographical Statement –

Jonathan Brent is a historian, publisher, translator, writer and teacher.  In 2009, Brent became Executive Director and CEO of The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research where he initiated The YIVO Vilna Collection Project in 2014.  Brent lectures and publishes widely on Jewish, Soviet and East European history
